Inside the AI Product Manager / Product Owner class day

The Certified AI Product Manager / Product Owner (AI-PMPO) class is one day, live online, capped at 12 people. Five modules. 300 of the 390 minutes go to work on your own material, and the final 75 begin the piece an independent assessor will mark. Here is how the day runs.

Morning: boundaries and a prompt library

Module 1, Where AI goes and where it must not, takes 45 minutes. You write a boundary list against your real backlog work: three tasks AI may draft, three it may assist with as long as a person checks the result, and three it must never touch. That list stays with you all day and becomes the boundary note in your submission.

Module 2, Prompt patterns as a working library, takes 60 minutes. You build six reusable prompts for Product Owner work, such as the vague request that needs to become a testable story, or the pile of feedback that needs reading in one sitting. Every prompt is stamped with the model it was tested on and the date.

Midday: reading AI output like an editor

Module 3, Weak versus strong, takes 75 minutes. You work through six matched pairs of real AI output, one weak and one strong, and name what separates them. A draft is cheap now; judging it is the job. No AI credential we could find puts worked weak-versus-strong pairs in front of the learner.

Module 4, Building your evaluation set, is the longest block at 90 minutes. You write a rubric with three bands, then judge ten AI outputs against it and record a verdict and a reason for each. It is also a rehearsal, because your own submission will be read the same way.

The last 75 minutes: your brief

Module 5 is The role brief. Everyone in the room starts the submission their credential depends on, and the brief differs by seat. Scrum Masters and project managers in the same room get their own. The Product Owner brief is this: take one story from your backlog that is too big to move. Split it into pieces that can each be finished in an iteration. Then rewrite the acceptance criteria on two of those pieces so they survive review.

Story splitting is the one Stage 1 topic we could not find taught in any competing AI course syllabus. If your employer will not let you bring real backlog items, you work on a supplied dataset, declare that on the cover block, and it is marked the same way.

After class: the pack and the assessor

You submit a six-section pack within 14 days of the class: cover block, prompt set, raw AI output, final version, change log, boundary note. An assessor who did not teach the class reads it. They never see your name or your employer. They mark against the rubric published on the credential page before you buy a seat, on four criteria: Judgment, Specificity, Boundary awareness, Reusability. Each lands in one of three bands, Not yet, Pass or Strong, and you need Pass or Strong on all four. An unedited AI draft submitted as your own work lands in Not yet.

The mark comes back inside 10 working days. If it is Not yet, you get one free resubmission with written feedback. The credential can be failed. A pass earns a credential for life, with no renewal fee, a printed Certificate ID and a digital badge. The record at /verify/ shows the holder, the credential, the Certificate ID, the issue date and the result. The full standard is at /standards/.
