The day, module by module

Live and instructor-led. You spend most of the time on your own material, because that is what the assessment marks.

    Where AI goes and where it must not You write a boundary list against your own last two weeks: three tasks AI may draft, three it may assist with a human check, and three it must never touch. 45 min

    Prompt patterns as a working library You build six reusable prompts for your own role, run each one, revise it, and stamp it with the model, the version and the date tested. 60 min

    Weak versus strong: reading AI output like an editor You work through six matched pairs of real AI output, one weak and one strong, and write down what you would change before the strong version is revealed. 75 min

    Building your evaluation set You pick one task you will give AI, choose ten real inputs, and write a three-band rubric before reading any output. 90 min

    The role brief You sanitize your own impediment log and retrospective notes, then start the marked submission for this credential: three impediments rewritten so they get escalated, and your next retrospective designed from patterns across your last three. 75 min

How you earn it

Attendance does not earn the credential. Your own work does.

What you submit

Within 14 days of class you submit one pack built on your own sanitized material. It has three parts. First, three impediments from your own log, each rewritten so it would get escalated, shown as before-and-after pairs. Second, a design for your next retrospective, built from patterns you pulled out of your last three retrospectives' notes. Third, the one thing in this work you would not let AI do, and what happens if it did. The pack uses one fixed template with six sections in a fixed order: cover block, prompt set, raw AI output, final version, change log, and boundary note. A pack missing a section comes back unmarked, and that return does not count as your attempt. If your employer will not let you bring real material, a supplied practice set stands in and is marked identically. Your pack goes to an assessor who did not teach the class and does not see your name or your employer. It is marked against the four criteria below and returned inside 10 working days. A pass is Pass or Strong on all four.

Judgment

Not yet: an unedited AI draft submitted as your own work, whatever else the pack contains. Also Not yet: changes were made but the change log entries are generic and could be pasted onto anyone's artifact, or the log does not match the differences between the raw output and the final version. Pass: you changed the AI output in at least three places and gave a reason for each that names something specific in that output. Strong: Pass, and at least one entry records a change the output did not invite, something the model produced plausibly that you rejected on grounds only you had, with those grounds written down.

Specificity

Not yet: a generic example that could belong to anyone, or real material stripped so far in sanitization that nothing is left to judge. Pass: the work is about your own named work, or the supplied practice set declared on the cover block, and carries counts, dates and roles. Strong: Pass, and at least one count or date is attached to a consequence that changes what the reader would do next.

Boundary awareness

Not yet: no boundary named, or a boundary named as a category, such as anything confidential, with no consequence attached. Pass: you name at least one thing you would not let AI do in this task, with the consequence of getting it wrong. Strong: Pass, and the boundary sits at a point inside this task rather than around a topic, and the note says who picks the decision up and what they need in order to make it.

Reusability

Not yet: no prompt submitted, or the prompt does not match the output submitted, or it depends on context from a session nobody else can see. Pass: another Scrum Master or team coach could pick up the prompt and get comparable output, and the prompt is stamped with model, version and date. Strong: Pass, and the prompt carries its check line and says what to do when the input is thin, so the next person can tell how the output fails as well as how to run it.

Issuance

You attend the one-day live class, then submit work built on your own impediment log and retrospective notes within 14 days of the class. A person who did not teach the class reads it against the rubric published on this page and bands each of four criteria Not yet, Pass, or Strong. A pass is Pass or Strong on all four. The credential can be failed. If any criterion lands in Not yet you get written feedback and one free resubmission inside 14 days of the mark.

Issued by the American School of AI. Delivered by our authorized training providers. The school develops the standard, has every submission independently assessed, and prints a Certificate ID on every credential it issues.

Anyone can confirm the credential on the Verify a Credential page by entering the Certificate ID printed on the certificate. The credential is for life. There is no renewal fee and nothing to keep up.

Who is the Certified AI Team Coach for?

Scrum Masters and team coaches who already run retrospectives, stand-ups and impediments for a team. There is no prerequisite.

Who issues the credential, and who teaches the class?

The American School of AI develops the standard, has every submission independently assessed, and issues the credential with a printed Certificate ID. It does not run classes.
