The day, module by module

This class is built around the AI tasks a product manager or product owner runs most. It is not personalized to you one on one. 300 of the day's 390 minutes are hands-on, on your own material. Every module ends with something a marker could read.

How you earn it

Attendance does not earn the credential. Your own work does.

What you hand in

Take one story from your backlog that is too big to move. Before you open a model, write one sentence on why it cannot move. Then split the same story three different ways. Kill two of the three with a written reason each. Give every piece of the survivor a line on what a person can do once it ships. Rewrite the acceptance criteria on two of the pieces so they survive review. Hand it in as the six-part work you started in class: your cover note, the prompts you used, the raw AI output, your final version, your list of what you changed and why, and your note on what you kept AI away from. A marker who did not teach the class checks four things and gives you Not yet, Pass or Strong on each. You pass with Pass or Strong on all four. Your work comes back inside 10 working days.

Judgment

Not yet: an unedited AI draft handed in as your own work, whatever else you include. Also Not yet: you made changes, but your list of what you changed and why is generic and could be pasted onto anyone's work, or it does not match the actual differences between the raw output and your final version. Pass: you changed the AI output in at least three places and gave a reason for each that names something specific in that output. Strong: Pass, and at least one entry records a change the output did not ask for: something the model produced that looked fine, which you rejected for a reason only you could know, with that reason written down.

Specificity

Not yet: a generic example that could belong to anyone, or real material with so much stripped out for confidentiality that nothing is left to judge. Pass: the work is about a real, named piece of your own work, or the practice set supplied to you, declared on your cover note, and it carries counts, dates and roles. Strong: Pass, and at least one count or date is tied to a consequence that changes what the reader would do next.

Boundary awareness

Not yet: you name nothing you kept AI away from, or you name only a broad category, such as anything confidential, with no consequence attached. Pass: you name at least one thing you would not let AI do in this task, and what would happen if it got that wrong. Strong: Pass, and the line you drew sits at a specific point inside this task rather than around a whole topic, and your note says who picks up that decision and what they need in order to make it.

Reusability

Not yet: no prompt handed in, or the prompt does not match the output you handed in, or it depends on an earlier chat that nobody else can see. Pass: another Product Manager or Product Owner could pick up the prompt and get similar output, and the prompt records the model, the version and the date. Strong: Pass, and the prompt includes a line on how to check its output and says what to do when the input is thin, so the next person can tell how the output fails as well as how to run it.

How it is issued

One live day, then the work. Your hand-in is due 14 days after the last day of class: six parts, built on one story from your own backlog. A marker who did not teach the class reads it against the marking guide on this page, the same guide you read before you paid. It can come back as Not yet. If it does, you get one free chance to fix it and hand it in again, with written feedback, inside 14 days of the mark.

Issued by the American School of AI. Delivered by our authorized training providers. The credential carries a printed Certificate ID and a digital badge. The marker never sees your name or your employer.

Anyone can confirm the credential on the Verify a Credential page by entering the Certificate ID printed on the certificate. It is valid for life. There is no renewal fee.

Who is this credential for?

A working Product Manager, Product Owner or backlog owner. You already own a backlog and decide what ships first.

Who issues it, and who teaches the class?

The American School of AI writes the standard, has your work marked by someone independent, and issues the credential. It does not run classes.

How is it marked?

After the class you hand in work in six parts, built on one story from your own backlog. A marker who did not teach the class, and who never sees your name or your employer, reads it against the four published checks.

What if I do not pass?

Your work is due 14 days after the last day of class. It comes back inside 10 working days with a result on each of the four checks.

How long is it valid?

For life. There is no renewal fee and no expiry date.
