The day, module by module

This class is built around the AI tasks a project or delivery manager runs most. The modules are the same for everyone in the room. The work you do in them is your own. 300 of the 390 minutes are hands-on, on your own material.

    Where AI goes and where it must not You write a table of where AI is allowed in your own last two weeks of work: three tasks AI may draft, three it may help with as long as a person checks, and three it must never touch. 45 min

    Prompt patterns as a working library You build six prompts for your own role, run each one, revise it, and label it with the model, the version and the date you tested it. 60 min

    Weak versus strong: reading AI output like an editor You work through six matched pairs of real AI output, one weak and one strong, and write down what you would change before the strong version is revealed. 75 min

    Building your test set You pick one task you will actually give AI, choose ten real examples, and write your own marking guide with three results before you generate anything. 90 min

    The role brief You swap the names in your own status reports and risk log for roles and letters and take the money out, open the submission template with its six parts, and start the Project Manager brief: rebuild one status report so a stakeholder reads it to the end, then sweep your risk log for what is missing. 75 min

How you earn it

Attendance does not earn the credential. Your own work does.

What you hand in

After class you rebuild one status report so a stakeholder reads it to the end, then sweep your own risk log and list what is missing from it, with a reason for each item. You also name the one thing you would not let AI do in this work, and what would go wrong if it did. Your submission has six parts, in a fixed order: a cover note, the prompts you used, the raw AI output, your final version, your list of what you changed and why, and your note on what you kept AI away from. A submission missing a part comes back unmarked, and that return does not count as your attempt. Before you hand it in you strip out anything confidential: names become roles and letters, money comes out, counts and dates stay. A person who did not teach the class marks your work on the four things below. To pass you need Pass or Strong on all four. It is due 14 days after the class and comes back inside 10 working days.

Judgment

Not yet: an unedited AI draft handed in as your own work, whatever else you include. Also Not yet: you made changes, but your reasons are generic and could be pasted onto anyone's work, or your list of changes does not match the differences between the raw output and the final version. Pass: you changed the AI output in at least three places and gave a reason for each that names something specific in that output. Strong: Pass, and at least one change is one the AI draft gave you no reason to make: the model produced something plausible, you rejected it for a reason only you had, and you wrote that reason down.

Specificity

Not yet: a generic example that could belong to anyone, or real material with so much stripped out that nothing is left to judge. Pass: the work is about your own named project, or the supplied practice set, declared on your cover note, and it carries counts, dates and roles. Strong: Pass, and at least one count or date is tied to a consequence that changes what the reader would do next.

Boundary awareness

Not yet: you name nothing you would keep AI away from, or you name only a broad category, such as anything confidential, with no consequence attached. Pass: you name at least one thing you would not let AI do in this task, and what goes wrong if it does. Strong: Pass, and the line you draw sits at a specific point inside this task rather than around a whole topic, and your note says who picks the decision up and what they need in order to make it.

Reusability

Not yet: no prompt handed in, or the prompt does not match the output you handed in, or it only works with context from a chat session nobody else can see. Pass: another project manager could pick up the prompt and get similar output, and the prompt is labeled with the model, the version and the date. Strong: Pass, and the prompt carries its line saying what to check, and says what to do when the input is thin, so the next person can tell how the output fails as well as how to run it.

How it is issued

You attend the one-day live class, then hand in work built on your own material: one status report rebuilt so a stakeholder reads it to the end, and a list of what is missing from your own risk log, with a reason for each item. A person who did not teach the class reads your submission against the marking guide published on this page. The result can be Not yet. If it is, you fix it and hand it in again once, free, with written feedback to work from, inside 14 days of the mark.

Who is this for?

Project and delivery managers who already run delivery: you write the status report, keep the risk log and handle the escalations. There is no prerequisite.

Who issues the credential, and who teaches the class?

The American School of AI writes the standard (what you have to show, published before you pay), has your work marked by a person who did not teach you, and issues the credential with a printed Certificate ID. It does not run classes.

How is it marked?

After class you hand in one rebuilt status report and a list of the gaps in your own risk log, in six parts, built on your own material with names swapped for roles and letters and the money taken out. A person who did not teach the class, and who never sees your name or employer, marks it on the four things published on this page.

What if I do not pass?

Your work is due 14 days after the class and comes back marked inside 10 working days. If the result is Not yet, you fix it and hand it in again once, free, with written feedback to work from, inside 14 days of the mark.

How long is it valid?

For life. There is no renewal fee and nothing to keep up.
